Red Parrotfish is a spieces of Parrotfish in Abyssrium: Tap Tap Fish.
Ever thought of a man-made fish? Then let me introduce you to one of them. The red parrotfish is a man made fish that was created In Taiwan around 1986.
It’s a hybrid of the Midas and the redhead cichlid.
They are mostly for use in the aquarium. They differ in color that is from orange to red.
A mature red parrotfish can grow to about 20 centimeters and has a lifespan of about 10-15 years. Once in the aquarium they require regular feeding and giving them brine shrimp and blood worms would be ideal since they are their favorite meals.
These fish have several anatomical anomalies like the beak shaped mouth which cannot close properly and makes them slow in feeding and even cannot crush food well but this is compensated by their throat. The throat muscles crushes the food. Such anomalies that make them quite specific in tank mates which are not vigorous especially when feeding. Some of the suitable tank mates include; angelfish, danios, and cat fish.
The red parrotfish likes swimming in caves and having hiding places in the aquarium and this makes even their swimming more fun. Also during reproduction the females lay eggs at these hiding places or caves but since the males are infertile they (males or females) eventually eat the eggs to avoid growth of fungi.
